About Community Host Partners

College Corps fellows with community partners

Community Host Partners

Community Host Partners (CHPs) are the local organizations, schools, nonprofits, and agencies across San Luis Obispo County that work alongside College Corps fellows each academic year. These partnerships are at the heart of what makes College Corps work — connecting Cal Poly students with the communities they serve in a meaningful, sustained way.

Fellows are placed with a CHP in one of four focus areas — K–12 Education, Climate Action, Food Insecurity, or Healthy Futures — and commit to serving approximately 15 hours per week at their site throughout the academic year.

How the Partnership Works

What CHPs Provide

  • A dedicated site supervisor who meets regularly with the fellow
  • A meaningful, structured service role aligned with the fellow's focus area
  • A safe, welcoming environment for Cal Poly students to learn and contribute
  • Timely verification of fellow service hours

What CHPs Receive

  • Dedicated, consistent support from a motivated Cal Poly student
  • Fellows who bring fresh energy, skills, and perspectives to your organization
  • A direct connection to Cal Poly's resources and community
  • Ongoing support and communication from the College Corps program team
